How to deal with trolls on the internet

Today I was told to STFU by a stranger on the internet.

(It took me a hot minute to be sure what STFU actually means.)

I'm not down with the cool kids much these days to be quick with the latest acronyms... or down with people who like to comment crap on posts that aren't intended for them.

So after very little deliberation I decided to BLOCK and DELETE.

Then I tended to my nervous system.

The CNS (Central Nervous System) is the primal network of sensors in the body that allow you to react when faced with a perceived danger - known as flight, fight, freeze or fawn.My body was surprisingly activated. Despite my brain seeing it for what it was, and I knew that I was safe, in the comfort of my own home, it's incredible what 4 little letters can do to you when you make them mean something. If you are a coach sharing your voice on the interwebs then perhaps this has happened, or you've worried about this happening to you. I want you to know that you are going to be okay.

I want you to know you get to have your own back.

I want you to know that no it doesn't feel good, and yet you still get to learn and grow from the experience.

What have my biggest learning been from this? This was it:

1. It's my party and I play what  I want to

I've always likened the idea of my instagram page (and any other domain I call my own) being like my home. I get to play the music I want to and if someone doesn't like it, they simply don't have to come in and party with me. If they feel compelled to come into my home, and take the time to say STFU then I also get to lovingly and swiftly remove them.2. The party can continue but after some self love

Partnering with my nervous system, letting the emotions move through me and not become me are CEO essentials when it comes to running a soul-led business.

I had an elevated heart rate and was shaking slightly. Signals to me I was activated. I took the time to be gentle and look after me. Before long the party continues...

3. It's okay to get a little help from your friends

Surrounding yourself with friends, loved ones, biz besties and coach peers are a blessing in moments like this. I am surrounded by an army of incredible women who I can turn to when shit hits the fan and I need a little support. Sometimes just to be witnessed, other times to remind me who the F I am and step into my power whether through sharing advise, powerful coaching or sharing a new perspective.

4. Gratitude is everywhere

I'm so grateful this happened - it's a sign I'm saying something that is attracting MY people and repelling others. I'm grateful I know how to partner with my nervous system and hold myself through this. I'm grateful for the incredible women who I get to turn to when I need some support. I'm grateful to my partner who was protective of me in all the best ways when he found out. I'm grateful to my business, for having a mission and purpose that means I get to take something like this and use it for good, so if something like this happens to you, you know how to handle it, because you've seen me go through it.

I know being visible can be scary. But also, it's a responsibility, to stand up for what we believe in, and to stand up for the people who don't yet have a voice.

As a coach friend said to me - maybe he actually meant 'Sit the F Up' and I loved that perspective because I regularly catch myself with terrible posture.

So {{ first_name }}, that being said, I'm here reminding you to:

SIT the fuck up, SPEAK the fuck up and make sure you ignore anyone who tells you to STFU.

Your coach,

Pamella
